1. For the beach babes: Daytona Beach, Florida

Out of all the spring break beach trip locations in the U.S. to hit up, one of the most popular is Daytona Beach in Florida, with 20 miles of beaches. U.S. News ranked Daytona Beach as the second cheapest place for spring breakers to visit. There are hotels all throughout the community—the farther you position yourself from the shore, the cheaper it will be. The breezy 80-degree weather in March plays a big role in Daytona’s popularity with college students.

Even when you aren’t relaxing on the beach, you can still find fun in Daytona. Visit the famous Daytona International Speedway for some racing action, check out the Museum of Arts and Sciences, or climb to the top of the historic Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse.

2. For the adventurers: Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Take on the ultimate hiking challenge at the Grand Canyon in Arizona during your spring break. Sweltering summer temperatures can make Grand Canyon hikes a bit less enjoyable, especially if you aren’t a fan of heat. In spring, however, temperatures drop to the 50s and 60s. The Grand Canyon is also significantly less crowded during February and March, which means fewer lines, more parking, and more time to take in the Canyon’s beauty.

You can opt to drive yourself to the Canyon or take a guided tour to avoid parking issues. Once you arrive, you can stick to exploring the Rim or take your adventure further by traveling below the Rim. The Grand Canyon also offers helicopter tours and boat tours down the Colorado River. If you’re brave enough, check out the Grand Canyon Skywalk, which takes you 70 feet out from the West Rim.

3. For the happy campers: Assateague State Park, Maryland

If you’re one with nature, you might consider a spring break camping trip. Assateague State Park 312 campsites spread over 2 miles for you to choose from. Many of them have beautiful waterfront views, and the park is nine miles from Ocean City, so you can still get your beach fix in. You can sometimes spot horses, waterfowl, and deer during your stay! Reserve your campsite spot here.

Choose from several outdoor activities during your visits, such as biking, kayaking, fishing, rock climbing, and horseback riding. The Maryland Park Service partners with private guides and outfitters to take care of all your camping needs. Check out the park events hosted by the Park Service for daily fun exercise and learning opportunities.

There’s something for everyone here, from food to music to history—even to horror. Check out some of the ghost tours if you’re not too scared. After that, you can spend the night drinking and dancing in some of the many famous bars on Bourbon Street.

5. For the risk-takers: Las Vegas, Nevada

If you think you’re lucky enough, head to Las Vegas for spring break with some extra cash and hit the casinos. On top of gambling, the City of Lights will have you up all night drinking in bars, dancing in nightclubs, and swimming in giant hotel pools. Search for airline partnerships with college discount sites to get the best Las Vegas airfare deals.

This trip is best enjoyed when you’re 21 or over. Remember—drink responsibly and don’t get too carried away with gambling. Also, don’t lose one of your friends like Phil, Stu, and Alan did.
